Well, my name’s Jenny and I do all things Digital – I’m also part of the ‘digital generation’ so we played around with the words a bit too. I’ve spent my entire career working in SME’s and I know that sometimes you really need some help but definitely can’t afford to take someone on permanently – so I set up this business to be that someone, but on a freelance and flexible basis.
What makes me get out of bed in the morning?
Practically, the need to do the school run and down my first bucket of tea for the morning (Earl Grey if you’re making, with milk please). Workwise it’s variety – I love a varied workload and seeing small businesses succeed. I love teaching people the skills to enable them to manage aspects of their businesses themselves – especially the bits they thought they couldn’t do. Social media doesn’t have to be scary, you can instill trust and confidence in you and your brand through your online presence and great pictures tell a story – you just need to find the story that your customers identify with.
Why the variety of services?
When I set up the business I was looking predominantly at providing blogger outreach and blog writing services – and I quickly realised that although there was some work in this, it wasn’t really what small businesses needed. So I’ve pulled together the skills I’ve gained through my career and focussed on the bits I really enjoy. This means I can support businesses creatively, commerically and digitally – providing a ‘joined up’ service that really supports what they’re doing.
Why work with DigitalJen?
If I was going for true ‘marketing speak’ this is the point that I’d say it’s because I’m passionate about what I do. Lots of businesses say that so instead I’m going to twist it round…
“DigitalJen seeks businesses to work with who love what they do, are ethical, straight talking and want to be proud of every aspect of their brand. Must be prepared to answer numerous questions, resort to pen and paper as required and not believe everything they read on the internet. Appreciation of good cake an advantage.”
That’s how I work – I charge rates that small businesses can afford, I explain what I do and why I do it and I’ll do my best to help your short, medium and long term plans come to fruition.
